About Marika
Born in Grosseto (Italy), the 28-05-1992
Marika started dancing at the age of 10 in Sicily.
At the age of 14 she got in Accademia Nazionale di Danza in Rome and from that point her dance carrier
started. After 5 intensive years of dance education mainly in Ballet, Classical Repertoire and Modern
technique she got her Diploma in 2010.
Thanks to her strong focus and determination she got therefore, the chance to improve her personal skills and qualities, in Codarts Dance School in Rotterdam, by joining the dance education program in 2011 and get her graduation in 2015. There, she had the possibility to deepen more into the contemporary dance field and to work and perform pieces of prominent choreographers such as Nacho Duato, Sjoerd Vreugdenhi, Regina Van Berkel, Marina Mascarell, Liat Waysbort, Samir Calixto, Jan Martins.
During the period of time following the years in Codarts she worked for one year in Theater Aachen where she took part of one contemporary Opera called Au Monde. Now she is currently freelancing with dance companies and projects like Gotra Ballet/Joost Vrouenraets for the productions “Nemo-BODY” – “Pandora” – “ Frontier” – “Charlie Goes”; Venice Biennale 2016 with “Imaginary Garden with real toads in them” by Annamaria Ajmone; Olive Grandville in the performance “Le Battailles” ; Daniele Ninarello in “Blink Of Liberation” ; Opera Di Firenze OF “Faust” choreographed By Michael Keegan- Dolan. She is also busy in collaborating with the visual artist Alexis Blake since 2015 for the performances: “Anthology of Anger” ,“We will not be Moved” and “Allegory Of the Painted Women” performed at the RiJksmuseum 2016 and Riga Biennial 2018.
From September 2018 she will start working in Teatro La Fenice in Venice for the opera ” Semiramide” by Rossini while working on her own dance pieces.
